Laurence has more than twenty years of industry and consulting experience in all areas of supply chain management – including inventory management and procurement – and in Total Working Capital management. She has a solid track record developing and leading multi-disciplinary and international teams to implement working capital improvement programs. She has worked on and successfully managed numerous consulting engagements in the automotive, consumer goods, paper, pharmaceutical, and mining industries, among others, worldwide.
Laurence has implemented Total Working Capital programs in the areas of cash flow improvement, supply chain and revenue management for Fortune 500 companies across Latin America, Europe and the U.S. These implementations principally consisted of financial and systems process improvements within the Supply Chain, Revenue and Expenditure Management cycles leading to tangible and measurable cash flow benefits ranging between 10 –35%. She has also directed implementations of Sarbanes-Oxley within various international subsidiaries of American companies.
Some of Laurence's selected accomplishments include:
Manufacturing: Working Capital Desktop Analysis: Lead Consultant in the A/R area during the D&D Phase in the U.S. and Europe. Obtained and analyzed all relevant data, formulated benefits to be obtained. Assessed potential Accounts Receivable improvement benefits resulting in US$ 10 Million+ cash benefit.
Manufacturing: Managed a team of consultants to implement Sarbanes-Oxley controls across 12 principal processes such as purchase to pay, supply chain management, treasury systems, in a Brazilian affiliate of a large US multinational.
Mining: Working Capital & Process Optimization project to Consolidate and Centralize AP Processes and Improve Cash Flow in a Mining Organization. Delivered R $ 3.2 Million (approx. US$ 1.8 M) in Benefits. Spearheaded effort to Consolidate Accounts Payable from 4 mines into one centralized location in Sao Paulo. This project consisted of 10 interrelated but separate initiatives designed to streamline processes and improve cashflow. The team implemented a streamlined and efficient fiscal and payables process leading to increased cash forecasting visibility. We supervised construction of fiscal posts at 3 mines in order to improve invoice and goods receiving process and implemented new processes across the board which resulted in headcount reduction and 50% productivity improvements.
Mining: Lead Consultant in the A/R and A/P Analysis Phase in the U.S. and Europe. Lead Consultant in the implementation of process improvements and benefits in the A/R area resulting in total AR benefits of US$ 33 Million. Upgraded Key Account Management and implemented proactive collections techniques. Improved Dispute Management process and installed Policies and processes for customer credit limits. Revised roles & responsibilities, documented processes and procedures that support efficient A/R management, and installed Key Process Indicators across the function. Exceeded Target Working Capital improvement of $15.5M; realized DSO Improvements (Borates 53 & Talc 49) and improved cash flow by $ 20 million within a 6 month timeframe.
