WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT
Regardless of the organization, the industry, the country, or the economic climate, the only measure of our effectiveness is RESULTS. Our ability to deliver results time after time is due to key differentiating factors that include the experience of our consultants, delivery of needs-based solutions, sustainability of our processes, project management discipline, and our methodology.
Experience We have only senior partner level consultants with at least 15 years of consulting experience in executing meaningful and sustainable change. We are a flat organization with no junior partners or trainees. Our consultants have also had business leadership experience before entering the consulting industry. Not only have they faced the same issues that our clients face every day, they have been successful in resolving these issues for themselves and others.
Needs-Based Solutions
Throughout our history, our needs-based approach has allowed The Highland Group to stay focused on the key objectives and goals of our clients while creating significant financial returns.
What this means is that The Highland Group commits that:
- The client, rather than The Highland Group, identifies the need and defines the goal.
- The client’s people, rather than our consultants, own the problem. Through our collaborative implementation process, they therefore also own the solution.
- A meaningful ROI is delivered, not just promised. During our last eight years, we have not missed a single financial commitment and we have averaged between 3 and 5:1 ROI.
Sustainability
A cornerstone of implementation efforts is the Highland System for Managing. This method of measuring and monitoring the business to continually identify variances and drive improvement is the key tool to ensure sustained results.
Project Management Discipline
The Highland Group works with clients on a week-to-week basis without a contract. We are held accountable to earn the right to return each week to continue the project. We measure and publish value-added performance metrics on a weekly basis. The client may end their engagement with us at any time for not meeting weekly metrics, but none of our prior clients have chosen to do so in our sixteen-year history.
Methodology
Our consultants use a very visual methodology for driving change on all client initiatives.
Our proprietary visual mapping process has proven successful in all of our client organizations for portraying complex concepts or initiatives in a simple, one-page format.
Our core beliefs for approaching any project includes the following:
- Gain a solid understanding of the baseline information and conduct detailed analyses of all areas to avoid sub-optimizing a single unit.
- Use a proven methodology to conduct the analysis, develop the future-state strategy, and identify short, medium and long-term opportunities for financial benefits and execution of the planned strategy.
- Apply only highly skilled and experienced resources, not only to perform the Discovery and Design, but also to gain consensus with the leadership of the organization.
- Create the environment for change by involving every stakeholder group in all phases of the project through membership within the team project structure, specific progress review meetings, and conducting “pre-presents” of material from every work stream.
- Fund implementation phases on a “pay-as-you-go” basis, so that accrued benefits quickly surpass the implementation costs.
